The best viewpoints in Mallorca

Home >> About Majorca >> The best viewpoints in Mallorca

You don’t have to go to the Maldives or the Caribbean to enjoy an incredible view of the sea, as we can tell you the best viewpoints to visit in Mallorca to be awed by the beauty and imagine you are in heaven for a moment.

These lookouts are located in different places on the island, but they all share a common characteristic: they all offer some of the best views in Mallorca.

Tie Knot Lookout

Can the road be called a viewpoint? In this case, yes! If I were to try to describe the views from this Mallorca lookout, I would say it’s “spectacular”. Because from here you have dizzying views of a spectacular winding road with many curves leading to the Sa Calobre, views of Mallorca’s highest mountain Major Peak and the beautiful scenery.

Sa Creueta or Colomer lookout point

The most common name for this Mallorca lookout is simply Formentor. It is located in the north of the island, about 10 kilometres from the port of Polensa. The Formentor Peninsula is one of the most visited places in Mallorca and there are many lookouts everywhere in the area, although this is the most popular of all. This lookout is actually a cliff over 200 metres high that offers one of the most beautiful sunset views in Mallorca, combining both land and sea with the island of Colomer in the background and the cliffs. Continue from here to the lighthouse, 5 minutes from the observation deck, from which you can see Menorca on clear days. Also, don’t be lazy to climb up to the tower for the best views of the Gulf of Alcudia.

Ses Animes Lookout

Another name for this place is Torre del Verhaere (Torre del Verger). This observation deck is located between the road between the towns of Banaylbufar and Estellencs. The tower is accessed via a staircase. And the tower itself offers impressive landscapes, sea and mountain views. It was built for surveillance in 1579 to protect the coast and the town from pirate raids. Also from here you can see an enchanting sunrise in summer and a beautiful sunset in other months.

Mallorca viewpoint from Belver Castle

Belver Castle – Mallorca’s classic castle, built in the 16th century. Inside the castle is Palma’s historical museum. And from the upstairs terrace you can enjoy panoramic views of the city of Palma, the bay and the south-west coast of the island. Definitely recommend a visit.

Puig de Sant Marti

San Martí Peak is not a popular tourist destination, but it is definitely worth a visit. It is better known among sportsmen, as paragliding and deltoplane flights are made from here. It is located on a 266 metre high mountain near Alcudia. The view of the bay of Alcudia and Polensa from the top is breathtaking.

Des Pi Lookout

Officially this Mallorca lookout is closed, but if you are travelling on your own and really want to see some really beautiful views, this is the place to go. The road to it is not equipped, so you have to walk carefully and cautiously. This is one of my favourite viewpoints in Mallorca, a very quiet, magical place with incredible views. It is not far from Valldemossa, and to get to it you have to jump over a low stone fence and climb down a ladder.

Santa Catalina Lookout

Mallorca’s little known viewpoint, or should I say, not promoted. But if you’re driving through Sollier, be sure to visit the port of Soller; and if you are passing through the port of Soller, be sure to visit the observation deck located on the opposite side of the aforementioned port, at the foot of the Hermitage that bears his name. There are several benches there, on which you can rest quietly while admiring the beautiful blue sea.

Sa Foradada Lookout

This is one of the most emblematic places in Mallorca. It is an interesting rock with a hole right in the centre of the cliff against a picturesque seascape. According to legend, the hole was caused by a cannon fired during a famous battle in 1582, but no one really knows the truth. This observation deck is located near the town Deya, and there’s free parking to leave your car. This cliff can also be walked down to. The walk will take about 30 minutes. Although the return journey is a bit tiring, but this hike is definitely worth it. Apart from the ones mentioned above, there are many other viewpoints, but you can’t fit all of them into one holiday.
